Why do moms feel guilty?

It seems that every Mom has something that they wish they were better at, or did not do, or just plain makes them feel guilty.

As a mom there is a lot on our plates whether you are a SAHM or a WAHM or a working mom. I think Mrs. B made a good point that so many times we as women/mothers spend too much time concentrating on putting other women/mothers down because they do not do things the way WE do or what WE personally think is the best way, and instead need to concentrate more on supporting each other.

I feel guilty because I moved our family 400 miles away from the people that Daniel spent most of the first 3 years of life with.

I feel guilty because sometimes I let my temper/frustrations get the best of me and I yell. If I was like THAT Mom I would NEVER yell at my child.

I feel guilty that I do not get to stay at home with my child, but have to work to keep our family functioning.

There are so many things that I feel guilt over at one point or another as a mom. BUT. None of those things make me a bad mother or any less of a person. It is normal to feel overwhelmed and angry at times. It is normal to want time to yourself every once in a while. It is normal to think about well what if I could be a SAHM. Honestly I would probably go crazy if I did not go to work every day.

What is it that makes you as a mom feel guilty and why?

yeah I don't think I could stay home.

I have huge amounts of guilt as a mother. My biggest guilt is that I have to work. I feel like I'm missing out on parts of Hoss' life and he needs me. I also have a lot of guilt that I'm often exhausted after work and I can barely keep my eyes open so even then I don't get to spend as much time as I should with Hoss. It's just part of being a mom. A hard part.

I agree Jessica. But at the same time I do not think I could stay home all the time. Then I think of all the things I could do and think well maybe I could.....

Sometimes when I am having a bad day, I can be witchy, too. Everyone can. I never thought I would want to be a SAHM, but now I can't imagine not being one. Everyone is different, and some people don't have a choice. No set of kids are better than the other (SAHM or work outside home moms) - the only thing that matters is that mom loves them and they are taken care of!

Sounds like you are a good mom. Don't feel guilty for being human. :)
